What exactly is a keyword?

“Keywords” have become a major focus for all the website administrators who consider Search Engine Optimization to be an essential tool for making the website a real success. Most of non web people who work with these keywords are in fact, not familiar with the actual Keyword concept. Some people believe that keywords are just single words, while other believe that keywords can be long phrases as well.
